Hi Pharm was established in 1999 by Dr. Habib Bassily. Having come from a leading family in the pharmaceutical industry for over 50 years, Dr. Bassily was a pharmaceutical visionary, who’s result-oriented and intuitive work ethic helped build Hi Pharm.

The HI Pharm facility was built on an 11,200 sq. meter site area. The facility began manufacturing, with solid dosage form products to serve the needs of chronic diseases. Hi Pharm was producing over 65 different products before the establishment of a more niche, dedicated hormonal site – a large gap in the Egyptian market. This was a breakthrough in Egypt, with HI Pharm being one of the first companies to have a line dedicated to hormone therapy.

Investment dimensions

The aim was to further expand the range of the pharmaceutical business by gradual vertical integration.
Establishment of the Hi Pharm Scientific Office, to initiate the product development cycle from the market. Market research was included as the very first milestone in Hi Pharm’s portfolio development.
Establishment of the Hi Pharm Facility, an Egyptian joint-stock company, for Manufacturing and packaging of Human and Veterinary Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals.

What Dr. Habib Bassily began was later carried on by his respectable family and kept alive. It was particularly through the establishment of further production lines, that they reinforced the presence of Hi Pharm, building a strong bridge to the future.
